LabTech Lab Ultrapure Water Supply System

To prevent stagnant water from forming in the pipelines, the system is designed as a circulating pipeline network, featuring both ultrapure water supply and return lines to ensure continuous water flow and maintain water quality.

To avoid bacterial growth, particle deposition, and contamination of ultrapure water quality caused by leachables from the piping, the flow rates are designed as follows: Main pipeline: 1.5–3 m/s, Branch pipeline: 1–2 m/s.

The system’s total water supply volume consists of the designed water usage plus the recirculated water volume, with recirculation accounting for 30–50% of the designed usage.

Key Features

The choice of piping material is critical for an ultrapure water system, as a decline in water quality due to piping materials may be caused by:
1. Dissolution of impurities from the pipe material into the water, increasing cations/anions, lowering resistivity, and increasing TOC.
2. Rough inner walls, joints, or valves leading to bacterial retention, growth, and particle accumulation.
3. Air leakage from poorly sealed pipes or valves, resulting in reduced resistivity, increased dissolved gases, and higher particle counts.

Therefore, the ultrapure water system should use pipes with low extractables, smooth inner walls, and as few joints as possible.

The recommended pipe materials for the system are PVDF or CPVC.
