Review: Voipbuster
So Jesse come's running to me to tell me about talk.google.com. I don't get what all the hype is about with Google Talk. They're using an existing protocol and they're doing nothing new. Again, if you're using Gaim like I mentioned before you're doing fine without Google Talk. But this article is really about VoipBuster and Let's get back to that.
Jesse was excited that you could talk to another Google Talk user on a computer for free. While that was cool in 1999, this just doesn't cut it nowadays. So I directed him to try Voipbuster. Read more of the Review after the Jump :
What is it :.
How would you like to talk to anybody on any phone in the United States and 20 other countries for as long as you'd like for free. Here's their rate table for other countries.
All you need to do is download the Voipbuster software, sign up for an account and then put 1 euro into your account. This can be paid by credit card or paypal so you're safe.
Sound Quality :.
So you're probably wondering how the sound quality is. I would venture to say that its better than regular phone service, but this probably has to do with the better microphone and speaker connected to the computer than the phone.
Real World :.
I loaded voipbuster software on my girlfriend's laptop before she went on a trip to Japan. Using free Wi-Fi over there she was able to make completely free completely clear calls back to the states. Voipbuster seemed to work fine for all calls with no noticable latency.
Verdict :.
Where's the press on Voipbuster? Why is crappy Google Talk getting all the attention of the media when Voipbuster is much better? If you need to make a lot of long distance or international calls, it's a no brainer. Go out and download it.

I have to disagree with you on the quality of VoipBuster Calls.I've used Skype,Gizmo, PcPhone,Dialpad,Net2Phone,GloPhone, Aim Voice,Yahoo Voice, and a few others.VoipBuster's only advantage is that it offers free calls. Problem is that most of the times it's almost unusable.I'd say about 20% of the time you get near acceptable call quality. About 60% of the time you get horrible quality where the signal is choppy.About 10% of the time you can't even hear the person on the other end.The rest of the time the program fails completely. If I would have to rate my personal experience with thr Voip programs that I've used.
#1. Skype
#2. Gizmo
#3. PcPhone
#4. Net2Phone
$5. Dialpad
$6. GloPhone
#7. VoipBuster

Interestingly, your email address tells us you're an AOL user.
I've had no problems on a real internet connection.

There are some catches to voipbuster. It is getting more expensive to charge your account. What used to be 5euro and 10euro is now 10 euro and 25euro. They advertise the USA for free, I called relatives in the US and it was 0.01ct (which is still cheap but not what is says on home page). I use Voipbuster nearly every day and do notice their sudden changes.

Bryant... as you could see on the rates section of voipbuster, they handly a fair user agreement, so you get 300 minutes/week for free, then you get charged 0.01 cent a minute for the free destinations.
the 300 minutes a week are always measured in the last 7 days, so as soon you go under the 300 free minutes again you get free calls again.
I think its great value altho 300 minutes a week isn't that much imo,but hey - they have to make their money somehow i'd gues.
Think i'm gona sign up also.

I noticed that Freecalls.com, Voipstunt.com and Voipbuster.com all have the same scheme. The sites are designed in the same format. They cross-advertise on each others sites. The software is also almost identical, except for differing color schemes, and names. Makes one wonder..
