MSN: Top Ten Lists
the folks over at msn singles have composed a list of the top ten items a single man and women should own as follows. (my comments in paretesees)
Men
1. A top-notch coffee/espresso maker (not an entirely idea a lot of girls i know dig a good cup of coffee)
2. A lamp in your bedroom (note: glow in the dark stars are way sexier)
3. Swiffer Sweeper + Swiffer Cloths + Swiffer Wet Cloths (nice to know swiffer sponsers dating artilces)
4. A comfortable couch (MUST be leather)
5. Nice underwear (i guess)
6. A key-ring that can fix, cut, and open anything (i personally reccomend the leatherman squirt i have the red one)
7. $150+ jeans (eh? seriously... tad too metro for my taste plus TJ MAX is where its at)
8. $200+ dress shoes (metro)
9. 300-thread-count cotton sheets (put this one a tad higher on the list)
10. The Joy of Cooking (put this higher too; ive impressed more women with my cooking skills than you can shake a stick at)

women
1. A fabulous photo of yourself (not a bad idea to have round ladies)
2. A pretty pair of heels (being a short guy im going to have to shoot this one down; just buy a pair of birks)
3. An Eminem CD (nothing says atractive like poor taste in music*)
4. A great pickup line... and a way to blow 'em off (too cheesy)
5. A six-pack of good bottled beer (move this up a few spots; and second it with a great bottle of wine)
6. Bathroom reading (whoaa... NO BIGTIME. last thing i want to think about is a fine woman in the bathroom, not cool)
7. A business card (unless you have a cool profession like aligator wrestling do not attempt)
8. Earplugs (yeah some guys snore; not a bad idea untile the fire alarm goes off and you cant hear it)
9. A straight male friend on your speed-dial (whoaa... NO, i saw when harry met sally. sex always gets in the way. biz markie said, "never trust a girl who says she just has a friend."
10. A condom (this makes a girl seem cheap to me but then i am fairly conservative morally)

if aimee, shannon, or other female (or male) readers disagree with my take let me know.

Jesse, come on now...if I disagree does that really matter? You've never cared about what I've thought. But I do have to say, being metro is not a bad thing. I think it's kind of sexy. A nice pair of pants and shoes is a good thing. Birks are okay for a chick thats going to class, but for a night on the town, a hot pair of heels is the way to go. I'm short too and am totally attracted to a taller man so yeah I need heels. SO yeah, this is all I have to say right now...if I think of anything else...I'll post it. Also, I'm sure Mandy might have something to say about this when she gets back from Vegas.

ok... but have you ever met a guy with 150 dollar jeans? even if i wanted some i wouldnt know where to find them...

First of all...don't only own a coffee pot, be willing to wake up earlier to make the coffee (step one into a girl's heart). Swiffer or not, just be willing to straighten up a bit...it's the effort that counts. (And I don't want to have to put down the toilet seat to pee.) As far as the leatherman, the abilty to be handy is fantastic. I could care less about how expensive your clothes are as long as you can dress up and/or down. I would add another book to the Joy of Cooking....I book on the basics of massage. Seriously, learn to give a quality massage (AND BE WILLING TO GIVE ONE!)
And Ladies...I say don't do/own/say/be anything that isn't really you. If you own an Eminem CD, you better like or have liked Eminem. What if he actually wants to listen to that aweful, offensive music when you hate it? Trust me...I think you'll be much better off if you know who you are and are confident in that.
Take that MSN!

This was an interesting read... as far as the $150 pair of jeans... I'm always a sucker for a guy who knows how to dress, but unless they are wranglers or something - I have no concept of the cost of a man's jeans, if they look good, fit well and arent capris or something, then I don't see why cost is a factor... TJ Maxx is the bomb, Jesse, way to be. Also, question... can a 40 of Lazer be substituted for a 6-pack of good bottled beer? You know what they say...

To answer the $150 dollar jean question, yes Jesse, I do know a guy that has spent that much on jeans...not that I'd ever date him. Hes cute, and has tons of money, but flaunts it too much...the kid is 24 and has a BMW, Lexus and Mercedes...it is a little over the top...

A good pair of heels doesn't mean you have to wear 5 inch stilletos, these days a nice pair of heels could mean a funky pair of 1 inch heels that make you feel hot and sexy when you wear them. And if you find a pair of jeans that you love and make you look fabulous, price should be no object, and when you DO find the "fabulous" pair of jeans, buy them in every wash. Can you tell I did some serious shopping in Vegas?

Yes Mandy, most people don't need 5 inch stilletos to feel sexy, but when you are 5'3'' you do or you feel like a midget...well at least I do...
