Close Minded Television
One of the arguments or statements that I hated most during my time at Brown was the all too favored "Conservatives are so close minded."
I loved how accepted it was be another typical liberal on campus and that you were going to show your individuality by wearing berkinstocks, smoking weed, not showering, playing acoustic guitar, throwing frisbee, wearing as much paisley, vintage, thrift store clothing as possible, collecting nostalgic irony, freeing tibet, and bush bashing every day. If you didn't follow this strict schedule, you were immediately close minded and offensive.
Now along comes Fox News. Fox News is not like the other stations. Admittedly Fox News does lean right of the other boys, but perhaps that where Television needed some balance. Perhaps CNN was too left for too long. Perhaps thats why Fox News now averages about double viewership during Primetime as CNN enjoys.
Now in an effort to block out this close minded television and to protect liberals from possibly hearing another person's viewpoint, Sam Kimery is selling a 8.95 dollar device that supposedly blocks out Fox News.
First of all, I highly doubt this device actually works. With Digital TV, Satellite TV, Analog TV differing channel lineups etc. I don't see how this 9 dollar dongle could actually block Fox news in all these cases.
Next, is this really how people want to go on living their lives? Sure at college it was simple to live in the liberal bubble, without responsibilities, gobbling up quotes as professors shove communism down your throats, but isn't it time to accept other viewpoints like Fox News.
Sure it would be one thing to simply erase Fox News from your TV tuner lineup, or not watch Fox News. But why bother paying for a device and sending threatening letters to advertisers. Is it just so that you can score points with your liberal buddies as to how protected from the Man you are?

You could pay $8.95 for a device that possibly doesn't work...or you could just change the channel.
In the words of the political left: FIGHT CENSORSHIP! (Unless you're making a profit off of it.)

Apparently the inventor is getting death threats for this device:

Edmonton dominated the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night and the 4-0 margin in Game 6 makes it hard to imagine the Oilers not hoisting hockey's Holy Grail above their heads in less than 48 hours. And it would not come as any shock to see defenseman Chris Pronger, who had another 31-minute night, take the honors for the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP.
