Independence Air College Fare

I know a lot of you out there are either college students or still have your college ID. I just ran across this today:

20% off all independence air flights with a College ID

My friends and I just booked our spring break flights to Orlando on Independence Air. I'm a bit worried though, I've never heard of them before. Hopefully we'll make it there and back safely. The sad thing is, they never offered us the college discount...how crappy is that? But I'll give you a review of how the airline is when I return.

I've been on independence air a few times. There are some good things and some bad things.

Flights
Bad: They fly almost all their flights through Washington.
Good: I live in Washington

Equipment
Bad: The planes are small
Good: The planes are new.

Food/Entertainment
Bad: No in-flight entertainment, besides the FAA safety regulations read by celebrities
Good: The chip and drink selection is very good.

On Time
Bad: They seem to be delayed leaving a lot
Good: They seem to be delayed beause they have too many flights, so if you miss one you'll catch another soon

Pricing
Bad: used to only be able to get fares from flyi.com now youc an get fares on orbitz.com too
Good: Their normal pricing is a little high, but they seem to have pretty good deals on occasion that make round trips pretty close to 100 bucks.

Thanks for the review Bryant. At least Aimee and I have a better idea of what we got ourselves into!

I compared a couple of flights. Southwest still seems to be cheaper.

Southwest may be cheaper, but if you live in Wisconsin, southwest only flies out of Midway in Chicago and that airport is GHETTO!!!

So, I know it's been a while since I got back from Spring Break, but I just thought I would say that yes, I would fly with Independence Air again. Our first plane was kind of small (50 passengers) but our flight attendent made the ride. Bryant, I don't know if you've ever had "mama" but she's soooo cool. Oh and the FAA safety regulations are quite amusing. It was different every time, but the first time, when talking about the oxygen mask they said.."Oh and if your oxygen mask falls down, you're not having a very good day." For some reason, humor makes me feel safer riding their planes...don't ask me why I couldn't tell you. But all in all it was a good flight. I would suggest flying with them.
