I can Bearly resist this
I robot came out last weekend. It's a movie about talking robots that take over the world. Looks like we're well on our way to making this a reality.
ESpring USA is selling bears that have a handsfree cell phone speakerphone built into them. Not only does the voice of the person that you're talking to magically emanate from deep within this plush bear, it also moves when the person talks, so it really seems like you're talking to a bear and not a person. You have to see the video to really appreciate this.
Imagine, instead of staring at a blank wall when you're on the phone, you can have a wonderful conversation with a real life animatronic doll. Instantly, calls to the doctor to get test results are always cheery, cuddly and touching.
There are many different styles of stuffed animal you can get, but what I'd really like to see is a talking snuggles bear. I've always had a soft spot for this incredibly soft and static cling free bear. And I would love to talk to snuggles.

I had one of these as a kid that connected to a normal phone line. It was better than this, though - this one just bobs up and down to match speech. The one I had had a mouth that open and closed and eyes that blinked.
Which reminds me - did anyone have the Teddy Ruxbin toy that would talk? You would stick a tape into it's back and then it would playback as though it were talking to you.
Truthfully, I thought all this was pretty cool...
