Dum Dum Dum Dum Dum
It looks like the Mormons have joined the Anti Free Speech Band-Wagon by buying a(nother) block of Salt Lake city and restricting speech there. Since many people here seemed to be in favor of Christian censorship, I was curious how you felt about the Mormons telling you what you can and cannot say? Matthew? Jesse?

I'm not in favor of "Christian" censorship, nor am I in favor of "Mormon" censorship. BUT, I am in favor of restricting and prohibiting behavior that is morally wrong (evil) and destructive to society. That is what a country's laws should be based on...and, by the way, those morals need to come from the one that created us, namely, God. (and no, not the false gods that people worship in their fancy religions, but the God that revealed himself in the form of a man and then died and was resurrected to prove that he is the way, the truth, and the life - Jesus)

Putting it in quotes doesn't change the fact that you want to force people to think and act by the standards imposed by your religion.

Not true, Glen, what I want is for people to think and act by the standards of the God of the universe, the One who created you and whom you owe every breath you take to. It is not just my "religion"...Jesus Christ is THE truth.

Matthew, there is a difference between beleifs and facts. The fact is that you choose to beleive in Christian Mythology. Thats fine and youre not wrong for choosing to beleive in that, however you can't pass off your beleifs as truths. Look at it from my point of view: I see you who is convinced that Christianity is the Truth, I see Mormons who beleive that the Book of Mormon is the Truth and I see other religions that each beleive their point of view is the Thruth. Who is right? Well you all beleive you are right, but does that mean you are all right? Or is one of you right and the rest wrong? I am sure you think you are the right one, but you need to understand this one basic truth; JUST BECAUSE YOU BELEIVE SOMETHING DOES NOT MAKE IT TRUE. I am not saying I have the right answer, I'm just admitting that I and everyong else dosen't know. So stop ascting like your beleifs are the Truth.

Noah, I don't need to just act like my beliefs are the truth, because they actually are. My beliefs are based off of historical, factual, verifyable evidence. Anybody who actually does the research on the Bible's claims will come to that conclusion, unless they are previously biased and wish to not accept what is true.
Just because I believe something is true does not make it true. This is correct. However, when the facts scream in your face that something is true, to not believe it is to believe a lie and harm yourself in the process.

What "historical, factual, verifyable evidence" do you have? I was under the impression that Christianity was based on faith, not on fact.

It seems as of late that anything goes in the United States today and it is good to know that there people out there who believe and act with civic responsibility. I see too many bulletin boards, advertisements and other forms of speech out there that promotes all too much of what I do not want my children to see. Mormons are good people, regardless of what they choose to believe in are all too often treated very poorly by those who also call themselves Christians. Furthermore, if one thinks that Mormons censor public speech, consider the fact that many of the ideas thought of as being censored would not fly with much of the American public twenty years ago. So maybe the one who is complaining should take a hard long look at them selves rather than draw negative scrutiny to another. Part of what makes this country great is the freedom of religion. So when we put one down for their beliefs, what does this say about how this may be considered infringing on that right?
